Vince Miller

BOYS TEAM HEAD COACH

Vince Miller, who has a BA degree in Child Development, is one of the founding members of WCOGA. He has been designated Northern California Boys Gymnastics Association (NCBGA) coach of the year numerous times since 1990. In his coaching career, he has coached many successful gymnasts; including national event and all-around champions. His graduates have also gone on to receive college scholarships in gymnastics, most recently at Stanford University and West Point.

Miller also has an extensive judging experience. Vince is the past chairman of the NCBGA. Vince Miller who has produced over 100 state champions, 56 regional champions, and national champions. He is regarded as one of the best coaches in the country and currently serves as a Junior National Olympic Coach. He has been awarded Northern California Coach of the Year for the following years: 1990, 1993, 1995, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Mike Lynch

Lynch has been responsible for many national champions and Olympians. In 1984, he coached Tracee Talavera to a silver medal in the team competition and a fourth-place finish on vault in the individual competition at the XXIII Olympic Games. From 1984-87, Lynch was a part of the “Olympic Gold Medal Tour,” coaching U.S. Olympic Team members in over 40 professional exhibitions throughout the United States. More recently in 1996, Lynch was named the Northern California Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

For almost 30 years, Lynch has been a personal coach for over 40 Class 1, Level 10 and Elite Gymnasts in more than 35 competitions, including nationals, U.S. championships, World Championship Trials, Olympic Trials and Olympic Games. He has coached many Class 1, Level 10 and Elite national champions. Mike also coached UC Berkeley collegiate girl’s team. Lynch has also been the head coach, owner and founder of Golden Gate Gymnastics in Concord, Calif. He served as an assistant coach at Diablo Gymnastics from 1979-81 and was an assistant coach at Chico State, his alma mater, from 1978-79.

Laurie Siebel

Laurie Siebel grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She attended the University of Minnesota where she obtained her BA degree in criminology. She has 12 years experience as a job training counselor, working as a manager for DuPage County Health and Human Services, and then 10 years with the State of Illinois where she was Co-Director of the Upward Mobility Program.

Laurie has two children who both train at West Coast Olympic Gymnastics Academy. Christopher has been two time state and regional champion for level 5 and 8, and is currently a 2009 National Development Team member finishing 13th in the country. Anna is in fourth grade and is training level 6 this year. Laurie loves her job as it keeps her with her children while they train in their sport.

Edyta “Edie” Kalinowska

Girls Team Coach

Edyta Kalinowska, who goes by Edie, was born and raised in Poland. She loves and enjoys working with kids. She has 10 years coaching experience – 5 years in Poland, and 5 years with Mike Lynch at Golden Gate Gymnastics. She has Master’s degree in Physical Education and has worked as a physical education teacher for middle school in Poland. Her accomplishments include:

Briana Eastus

Recreational Gymnastics Instructor

Briana went to Amador Valley High School and is now currently attending Las Positas College preparing for her career in law enforcement. She has been a competitive gymnast for 12 years and after quitting, she cant seem to get enough of the sport. She enjoys coaching preschool, levels 1-4 and her pre-team group she has started. She is very experieced in American Sign Language and has worked with kids for many years.

Laura Jones

Recreational Gymnastics Instructor

Laura comes to us with 8 years of coaching experience. She has coached Middles School, High School, and All-Star cheer and tumbling with more than 20 regional, national, and championship titles. Laura herself has cheered for 16 years. She is a certified personal trainer and is experienced in American Sign Language (ASL). Laura recently graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Psychology. With an emphasis in Social Psychology, Laura plans to start Grad school in 2011 hoping to improve the efficacy of drug and alcohol prevention programs within public schools.
